KINETISM (kinetic art) is art that contains moving parts or depends on motion for its effect. Since ancient times elements of kinetism existed in the form of manual or mechanical tricks breathing life into sculpture, architecture, applied arts (moving figures of clocks etc.), in particular in theatrical scenography. But only in 20 century, in the tideway of constructivism, kinetism as the movement is finally formed in the discrete sculptural objects, set in motion by mechanism, manually or by the forces of nature (generally powered by wind, a motor or the observer). Sound and light effects are quite often used in addition; former electromechanical principles of management are replaced by computer algorithms, expanding possibility of interactivity.
